I just got summoned for jury duty and I was wondering if there was any way to get out of it. I'm an MS2 and we're right in the middle of pathology so I would be missing about 1-2 weeks of class and potentially an exam if I'm required to go. Is there any way to get out of this?

You're better off contacting the local courts than asking here, as every locality and court system is going to be different.

A lot of med school student affairs offices have a template jury duty excuse letter to get you out of it.

If you want to go and play your odds, in the unlikely event you are selected, you can always explain during voir dire why you would make a poor candidate for their jury - ie, having to be present for class/tests/etc.

I got jury duty summons a few months back and went. I must have been lucky, because, out of the 300+ people who reported that day, the courts did not need any jurors at all. My county is also flexible in that they allow you to report any day +/- 2 weeks of your summons.

Everywhere is different, but you can most likely call and reschedule. My area has exemptions for students. Did you read the fine print?

I've been summoned for jury duty a couple times and have always been able to get out of it. You should definitely read the entire summons letter to see your options and speak to your school to see if they can provide any assistance. I never had to get my school involved, but that's nice that other schools offer a template for their students.

Ugh, jury duty. I don't think they'll summon me knowing I would troll and pick people who are guilty and say they are innocent 😛

Just write a letter back saying: "After careful deliberation, I have decided that the defendant is guilty and deserves the maximum penalty under Texas state law."

I called immediately after getting the letter - they said medical school was one of the few reasons you don't have to serve.
