I was commissioned on 080604 and I was wondering how long it would take for me to get my orders from the Army. It has been a week and a half and I'm still waiting to receive them.

Nice use of the military calendar.. I've been in 11 years and still don't know what that crap means:laugh: Anyway, you will only get orders when you are ordered to active duty during your ADT times or when you are finally graduating and get cut your orders for OBLC and first permanent duty station which may have several "schools" in between. Gluck

i think you'll get "appointment orders" (this is what i'm told) which is what you get after you commissioned. i commissioned 6 May and still haven't received mine.

You have been in 11 years and you can't figure out the military calendar? Sheesh, I was 17 and just signed my first enlistment contract and I figured it out. It goes YYMMDD, I actually like using it because it allows things to be sequential by year when you have the date first unlike doing it MM/DD/YY on a computer then you have EVERY say june 05, 06, 07, etc THEN you get to July. I like things ordered and neat.

Those are the orders I was talking about but couldn't remember their name. Did you go Army HPSP or a different branch? I also requested a login ID for the Army healthcare education page mods.army.mil/medicaleducation but I haven't had anyone contact me with the info like they were supposed to. I guess I need to call them up. I would like to take a look at the HPSP manual before I go to school.

I was being sarcastic jackass but thanks for spelling it out.. Remind me not to reply to your posts again, especially since you didn't even know what you were talking about yourself.

Ouch that stung

Yes, I'm Army HPSP. I went to the MODS site directly, requested a password via filling out some basic info, then was able to log on. Unfortunately, the website is useless until all your commissioning paperwork gets processed, but you can access the HPSP handbook. Not sure who you could call, that's always a difficult question. At this point I'm just waiting till they tell me what to do, as I think its difficult to rush the system.

How long was it till you got your password. I submitted my request early last week and no one has contacted me with the password as of yet.

Well, as soon as I signed up they sent me a user name, usually some weird thing like "kwodjf", then you set up your own password. all of this happened fairly instantly...i didn't have to wait at all.

I didn't have to wait at all on the MODS website for my password. Incidentally, did any of ya'll's recruiters tell you about the MODS website? I found out about it on my own, maybe a couple months after I was commissioned. Also, how long does the paperwork take to go through? As time is steadily drawing nearer for med school, I become more and more concerned about my recruiter and my paperwork.

I'm AF and commissioned 4/30. I got my appointment orders in the mail today.

I don't know how differently things work in the Army, but everything went smoothly for me and it still took time.

Yeah, I found out about MODS on my own. I was my recruiters first "recruit" so she's kinda learning new things along with me. I think as far as paperwork going through, once your recruiting station turns in all the commissioning paper work, etc, then its just up to the Army/AF/Navy to get everything processed. As Ms. South said (forgive me if I'm addressing you wrong) she comissioned in April and JUST got her appointment orders...I'm sure in all our cases, things will get done 🙂
