Just got my first MCAT results back.....20

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Jumping from a 20-25 is not apples and oranges. I would say its oranges and satsumas (same family). A 20 and a 30 that is significant. I have more friends than have commented on this post that have improved that much between Test 1 and Test 2. Please don't try to limit me.

When I said 20 and 25 were apples and oranges, I meant that you couldn't refer to your friends being admitted with a 25 MCAT and feel secure that it indicates anything about your chance of admission with a 20. If I had meant that increasing from 20 to 25 was inconsequential, I wouldn't have used an idiom that indicates they're poorly comparable.

Reading comprehension will be useful for getting above a 6 on the MCAT.

If you had that much motivation, I find it hard to understand how it didn't manifest into a better GPA or MCAT score. Also, living somewhere your whole life is definitely not an in to any school. Ask native Oregonians.

Look for the PM, Strange. It's coming.

You seem overly confident because there is a small chance of you getting in because somewhere across the country someone with your same stats got in. With your academics I would be looking at DO as best case scenario and Podiatry as a fall back. You shouldn't need to use 4 different resources to study for the MCAT to not even put up an overly competitive score. Like someone has already pointed out, what was the quality of your studying? You say you did it a lot, but how much of the material and extra material did you get through? How many practice MCATs did you take, how many subject and topic quizzes did you take to recognize weak points, did you practice the strategies they taught you, etc.
Your EC's are not impressive at all. 200 hours of volunteer work at a nursing home. That's about the equivalent as working there as a CNA for a month. Do you have any clinical experience, shadowing? I got a 27 my first time on the MCAT with extremely poor studying habits, 3.6gpa, 3 years experience as a CNA, 3 years of Special Olympics Coaching, 2 years pre med club VP, a year of research and a few other odd EC's and only got 1 interview and put on a waiting list. Now I retook the MCAT after actually studying and got a 34 and have 2 jobs in a hospital and I'm still not as confident as you. Don't go around thinking you're going to be OK, there's always something more you can do.

Appreciate the help, the haters thanks for the motivation. Doctor Strange I will PM you when I get into medical school.

Hey that's not fair! I want to know if you get into medical school too within 50 years.

Person comes to SDN, trying to seek validation for their academic shortcomings. When validation is not seen, said person tries to rationalize it as "discouragement" in an attempt to salvage ego. Then, attempting to get the last word, original person PM's the one guy who probably gave the most useful advice a pm to antagonize them, so that said ego can be maintained.

Then proceed to go to /r/premed and tell everyone how crazy and neurotic SDN is.

:claps: Well done, you two.

For real OP, take everyone's advice on here (this thread, not necessarily the whole site) seriously. You absolutely bombed the MCAT. You need to highly improve your score and your GPA as much as possible or you won't be a practicing physician in the US. Don't assume that you'll be a shoo-in (thought it was shoe-in as well so don't worry...) just because you get a 25. If you aim for 30+ and to bring that GPA up to 3.5+ then you'll open many more doors for you and the 3.3/25 school you're talking about will be something that hopefully you can just fall back on.

PS: There will never be one "cure for cancer".

Hmm... Did I just feed the troll??? 🙁

I'm going to leave the post. It did what I wanted it to. Got me some helpful responses and some not so helpful. I can not even apply and see what percentage I am in until I get my MCAT up. Thats probably where I should have posted this to begin with, but I am new around here and have only been a member for a month.

Appreciate the help, the haters thanks for the motivation. Doctor Strange I will PM you when I get into medical school.

One thing you do not take into account is the power inside a person. It's about how bad you want it. It's about strategy and putting in the time. But if you want something bad enough. You will get it.

I will PM you. I am not sure where you pulled the "99%" quote. Sounds self-made. There is 20% of people according to your link that get into U.S. med schools with a 3.3 and 25 MCAT. There is much more to the application process, than just that. You should know that.

Girl I know. Brilliant. She has a 30 on the MCAT. But during the interview she does not do well. Does not get in. She's working on getting a Masters degree, meanwhile I know smart people who score a 25 and get in because they know how to present and carry themselves. That matters too along with other factors besides GPA and MCAT.

Farewell, people. Don't ever let anyone tell you you CAN'T do something.

Look for the PM, Strange. It's coming.

Lol. You need a serious self-reflection and thoroughly reassess your future goals. You self-destructed in your MCAT and GPA, we made that clear, that somehow struck your fragile ego, you cried and abandoned SDN (and failing to use the quote function which makes it hard to find out who you're talking to).

So... OP posted his email on the MCAT forum. Searched that email on Google and found him soliciting someone for Xanax on a shady forum. I hope this is an elaborate troll.

I can't. I'm done. Goodbye.

🤣🤣

OP, you're a work of art.

OP, I have something to sell to you...
