Hey guys, so I literally just checked my MCAT scores about 5 minutes ago and I'm sure the anxiety of it threw me into A-fib. I got a 28 (10 VR, 9 ,9). Not great but not terrible, just seems to be on the bubble. Im a texas resident, I already have a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I have a very strong upward trending grade curve, out of my last 20 classes I made 19 A's and the only B was in a lab. But I want to ask what you guys think my chances are of MD/DO with my current app. Heres the basic rundown:
cGPA - 3.56
sGPA- 3.67
Working as a emergency room medical scribe right now, have about 1000 accumulated hours where I am working directly with doctors and gaining substantial experience in the medical field, (basically like shadowing but getting payed to do it)
50 hours Hospice volunteer
60 Hours hospital volunteer
Shadowed a doctor in multiple surgeries as well as in office.
plan on volunteering at a childrens shelter over the summer as well as the homeless shelter.
I plan on applying to all the texas med schools as well as TCOM and a handfull of other DO schools. I have LOR's from multiple MDs (none from DOs) but I do have experience working with DOs as they are some of the physicians in the ER that I work with.
Thanks everyone, have a good day!
