any DO schools out there just look at your science GPA? the overall gpa of my bachelors in economics was a bit low, but i am taking science prereqs right now and am hoping to ace them. however, i am afraid it will be all-for-not if they hold my GPA of a completely unrelated major against me... any schools just look at your science GPA?

I wouldn't worry too much. It's a lot better to have a significantly higher sci gpa than a significantly high overall gpa.

That's if you've taken a good amount of sciences.

But I digress.

well you're better off than if your science GPA sucked and your economics one was fabulous. i wouldn't stress it (unless of course, you failed or something)

I have a 2.95 overall, 3.4 science because all my post-bacc As are science.

have you gotten in anywhere? my economics gpa was a 2.8 in college. i'm kind of in the same boat. i just need some hope out there that some schools recognize people changing careers. to be quite honest, i know everyone hates classes, especially when they get in the way of partying-- but i was never interested in economics. i learned this when i was like 2 classes away from getting my degree.. and like most careerchangers, i studied more hours for my 1st degree to get worse grades than i did for my current science classes (only because it took longer to digest crap that i just wasnt interested in). now, i'm actually studying less (with QUALITY studying, not quantity, and actually interested in my science classes) and am actually doing very well.. i hope schools will be able to recognize that people do change careers and find their "fit". oh well

i didnt fail any courses in undergrad.. in fact, i graduated in 3 years (cuz i got sick of school at the time.. although i kind of regret it!), but i highly doubt that really holds any type of weight. i dont know, a lot of C's earlier in my academic career kinda held my gpa down.. and the fact that i got all B's throughout my junior/senior years didnt really help out in bringing me over the 3.0 hump.

i really dont want to sound like i'm whining, but my gpa really doesnt reflect how hard i study. in retrospect, i probably studied harder than most the people i went to school with, but the fact that the stuff just wasnt interesting was probably preventing me from actually understanding the material.. wherein lies the problem, because i'm actually enjoying my classes now and am studying as hard as before, but with MUCH better results... we shall see
