I'm freaking out a bit now..
I waited till after my DAT to send in my checks b/c I wanted to see what kind of a score i would get before paying more....and I've been reading that schools take a full month to cash your check!

Just frustrated b/c everything else is in...

Do schools review your app after your check has been cashed or received?

Takes forever too.. I think it took mine at least 2 weeks.

Ugh that's terrible. I'm just sending some checks out as well. Most went out a week or two ago, though, and they're still not cashed. It makes me wonder why all schools haven't moved to an online payment system.

Not that the dental schools can't, they choose not to use the online payment system. I think the banks charge them 2-5% fee on each payment processed. Let's say for example, NYU charges $80 per application and they receive at average 4000 applications a year. Total comes down to $320,000. Out of which they will have to give away a percentage to the banks if they processed it online, for which lets say 5% or $16,000 in the drain. These numbers are arbitrary, and just my opinion.

So, clarification...

It was never determined if a school reviews your app after the check is CASHED, or after its RECEIVED. I'm hoping it's reviewed when received. Either way, I wish they'd just cash the dang things! Not only out of frustration, but so that they'll post to my bank account and straighten the balance out.
