The lack of diversity and self-segregation at Virginia is nothing new. The Student Council President, who happens to be an African American female, was assulted and verbally berated using racial slurs last year in a public place. The dragnet of collecting DNA for the serial rapist was just instituted this year, but it's not surprising considering where it's taking place.

The medical school is one of the least diverse in the country. I've heard only Vanderbilt and a couple other southern schools had a proportionally less diverse class last year.
