took is yesterday and man...I don't know if the NBME is trolling or not, but the step 1 has got to be much, much harder than that exam. Our school requires a certain grade, 170 i think, on the cbse for us to be *allowed* to sit for the step 1...so i guess it was a good thing the cbse was easier than i though it would be, although some questions were tough.

yes, Step is more more difficult than the CBSE. there are too many 1-step, straightforward questions on the CBSE.

It honestly doesn't matter if the CBSE is easier or harder than the real thing. The curve will be harsher if the exam is easy and the curve will be more forgiving if the exam is hard. Don't discount the CBSE grade simply because you thought it was easy. The STEP score it spits out is still predictive because if everyone thought it was easy, it's that much harder to do well relative to the mean.
