Well I just took the DAT today and let me just say I'm glad it's over. Also let me say I do not recommend only studying for a little under two weeks when trying to prepare. Here are my scores:

QR - 19
RC - 22
Bio - 17
GC - 19
OC - 20
Total Science - 19
AA - 19
PA - 16 🙁

Just wondering what you guys think about that 16 in PAT. It was really challenging although I didn't think I did that bad on it, I felt angle ranking was really hard though. As for Bio I thought it was rediculous how much taxonomy, classification, and ecology was on there! Bascially nothing on cellular resp, proteins, or any of the real important bio topics... that sucked. It makes me mad because I know if I studied more I could have done better, but I guess I'm the only person I can blame for that.

Anyway though, how do you think these scores make me competitively? I have a 3.85 GPA also. My main interest is UAB. Any input would be great!

I also felt that the PAT wasn't hard when I took it, but then I got a 17 on it.

Well, if you look at predents.com, there was a new york resident who had 18/18/16 and a 3.3 to 3.4 GPA and he was waitlisted at Buffalo. Your GPA is really good and your DAT scores, with the exception of PAT, are higher, so I think you definitely have a shot at getting in

Also if you plan to retake the DAT, I'm sure that you are likely to do better. My initial scores, especially after the first two weeks of studying was not really that good and I did significantly better after 2 months of studying (about 1-3 points better in each section)

I believe dbl456 is interested in UAB, not UB. I would agree that the OP has a pretty good chance if they are an Alabama resident.

My bad. Hate all of these abbreviations, UoP= Pacific and not Pittsburgh, UAB = Alabama and not University at Buffalo. That makes it even better. The average PAT for UAB @ predents.com is 17 and you're only 1 off from that + stellar GPA

Just be prepared to explain your bio score given your really high GPA... but good luck with your application!

I hope those scores are competitive for UAB, b/c my scores are the same. 19AA, 16PAT. UAB is my number one school as well. If you are an Alabama resident, I think you will be okay. :luck: Good luck to you....Let me know how everything works out!

Congratulations on being done with the DAT...that is a good feeling. You will likely be fine if you have other interests/skills that show dexterity. It seems a majority of people score in the mid to upper teens on the PAT. Best of luck!!

Ok, this may sound like a dumb question but....the adcoms look at every section's score right? They look at Bio & RC & QR & chem, etc...and not just TS/AA/PAT right? The reason I'm asking is that not many people here post up specific section's scores, only the TS/AA/PAT 😕

Yeah luckily I am an Alabama resident which should definitely help. I a lot less chance if I were from out of state. As far as bio goes I just didnt know any of the taxonomy and classification stuff and missed pretty much all of it. They didn't ask very much about cell and molec or micro bio. It will look kind of bad though because I am a bio major and that was my weakest... oh well. Thanks for all the input.
