Hi guys I just took the DAT and I got PA 22/ QR 20/ RC 26/ BIO 23/ GC 24/ OC 24/ AA 23. I think I did fairly well on the DAT but the reason I'm writing this thread is because my overall GPA is 3.3 and I got a misdemeanor for possession on the way back from camping Colorado last year. I did a diversionary program and now it says "dismissed with prejudice" but I can't expunge it until 3 years later. Do you guys think my slightly subpar GPA and the misdemeanor will ruin my chances? Im am a Kentucky resident and looking to apply to UofL or UK.

Oh and some other info about me, I have 130 hours of shadowing and lots of research experience as well as some research in UofL dental school. Thank you all in advance for your advice!

Have you talked to a lawyer about getting the charge expunged? Waiting several years is typically something you have to do after a conviction, not after a dismissal of charges.

That DAT is top notch! Really consistent and that RC score is going to really stand out. I don't think your GPA will hinder you at most schools with that DAT. I also believe the dental school app asks about convictions, which you avoided via the program.

Could you contact your local dental schools and talk to them about it before you begin applying?

It was in Kansas and I think I do have to wait 3 years but I will definitely look into it more! I was just asking under current circumstances, with the "dismissed with prejudice" and subpar GPA, will my DAT and extracurricular make up for it? I do have 2 publications but not first author and I think some schools like that.
