hi, i was just wondering how med school knows about your previously educational history such as attended opt,dent school unless u state that in ur application. is this something that you have to volunteerly do it for moral reason or do they actually check on that too??...any thought?

AMCAS explicitly tells you to list all of the institutions of higher education in which you have been previously enrolled. They also ask for any degrees (if applicable), time span, and your classification at the time you were enrolled. Leaving this out would not be a good idea and would be easily revealed in a number of ways including transcripts, institutional/educational debt, etc.

From what I vaguely remember from my own application process, there are a few schools that randomly choose a number of incoming applicants and 'verify' their credentials. Generally though, it is my belief that such checks are only done in the event of a discrepancy/doubt which may arise in the future.

Since falsifying information on one's application is grounds for ejection from the school, I wouldn't risk doing whatever it is you might be contemplating.

I wouldn't even think of trying to pull one over on a school. I have known people who got fired from jobs who had lied on their resumes - and then one day, months later they got a call from HR and they were escorted out the door.

This happens in med school too. It is so not worth it! Just tell the truth in all it's humble nakedness. Be embarassed at whatever awful grades you got, or other things you feel yucky about; the honesty of your application is priceless.

There was a tread on here a while back about an MS3 who was booted due to failing to supply some old CC transcripts (there were some bad grades on them). I've known people who did it and got away with it......... worth the chance?

i am not saying i will do it...but i know a friend who is currently in med school did this...she was in opt school but withdraw then she apply to med without putting her opt. history......just wondering how often such things happen in the process...
