I also interviewed at Kansas last weekend--like others have said, everyone was very nice and they did a really good job of making people feel welcome and appreciated--unlike at a lot of other schools! I was interviewed by 3 people--2 faculty and one practicing veterinarian from Kansas. It was pretty informal, they mostly asked questions off my application/personal statement, with one ethical question. These are the questions I got (that I can remember--I was pretty nervous!):
1) Tell us about yourself.
2) When/how did you know you wanted to be a veterinarian?
3) Tell us about your research (I'm working as a lab tech right now).
4) What do you do with your free time?
5) What do you think about the animal rights/animal welfare issue?
And how does this apply to research animals?
6) Why do you want to go to K-State?
7) Describe a leadership position you had (what your responsibilities were)...I think there was more to this question, but I don't remember!
8) Do you have any questions for us?
I was expecting a "current events" question but didn't get one (a first-year student I know there got one in her interview at K-State). Some people got weird questions like "what would you say if you were a bumper sticker?" and "what's the difference in how an egg gets to your plate and how a hamburger gets to your plate?"--I'm assuming that last one was to test the person's knowledge of food production, but who knows!
As far as I know, last weekend was the weekend they did ALL their out-of-state interviews, and they'd already done all the in-state ones in December--so if you haven't heard from them by now, I don't think it's good news. :-( Sorry! The dean really stressed that he'd like people to call the school if they didn't get in to go over their application to see what they can work on.
Hope that was helpful!
