Kansas

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The person who took me down to my interview (K-State student) said that they interview last weekend and this weekend, but don't even start making decisions until after all of them are done. She said that they have a huge meeting Sunday night (would like to see that one!) where they make all the decisions, and they get mailed out the second week of February.

Hopefully the rules haven't changed here (haven't read 'em in a long time), but just wanted to toss this out there, for those who shall be receiving the 'big' envelopes from KSU...

I will be seeking a [female] roommate to move-in sometime this summer (June/July/August). I have a home within 1 mile of school - easy walk, easy bike ride. PM me if you'd like more info or wish to plug me with questions. 🙂

Just bringing the thread up since it is the second week of February and I am sure everyone is anxiously awaiting their letters.

Ha, ha! I freaked out when I saw a new post on here. I thought someone had heard already!

Haha sorry about that. I just saw Iowa's thread on the main page and figured Kansas should be there too as it is coming down to the wire.🙂

The wait is killing me too! However, I'm glad that they gave us a deadline to get a letter by. I told everyone I live with to call me during class, at work, or whatever if a large envelope comes in the mail!:xf:

Deadline? I don't remember anything about a deadline being talked about, besides the letter being sent out the second week of February. Or is that what you are referring to?

Yeah, I've already started checking the mail three times a day even though I know when it comes. They said they send the letters out this week, right? So that means they should be SENT anytime between yesterday and Friday. Ugh, that means we could not hear until Monday. Ish.

By deadline, I just meant that they said we should get letters by mid February.

I got the impression they would put letters in mail on Friday - did others have the same thoughts?? Monday is a holiday so I'm guessing I won't get my letter until Wednesday of next week since I'm OOS (Northeast). 😱

I think last year they were postmarked on Thursday and some received their letter on Saturday so who knows what will happen this year. I just hope it is sooner rather than later.

I've been checking my mail about four times every day and want to scream everytime there's nothing there! How am I supposed to focus on my tests with this distraction in the back of my mind!!! 😀

I would like to implement a new rule that the "Kansas" thread and the "Acceptances" thread are NOT allowed to be next to each other on the forum this week without people posting Kansas acceptances. Because, you know, hypothetically, it might startle some people.

With that in mind, *bump*.

What startle people? That could never happen...😀. However I am sure someone on this forum will break down and call the admissions office to get some news before the week is finished.

really starting to freak out.. ahhhhhh this wait is killing me

I love how I'm in the middle of exam week and can't stop thinking about when the letter is going to arrive. The stress is gonna kill me before the admissions cycle is over with.

So I'm supposed to be flying to another interview on Tuesday, and Monday is a postal holiday, so I called to see if there was any way they could let me know, so that I could decide whether to attend the other interview.

They would not tell me over the phone (didn't even look up my file), but they did say that letters went out yesterday.

Of course this means that I am definitely going to the other interview unless there's a miracle and it gets here like tomorrow (and more of a miracle would be that I actually get in 🙄), but at least we know that it's on the way!

Well I hope it arrives Saturday otherwise the whole weekend into Monday will be like sitting on pins and needles.:scared:

Ok, this is a completely random rant, but I just went outside to check the mail, and my mailbox apparently decided that today was the best day to break. So there it was, sitting wide open. Ugh. I don't even know if they'll deliver my mail if the mailbox won't close (it's an apartment mailbox where the whole front opens, not like a house mailbox..). So of course, now when Kansas decisions should be arriving any day, and UF interviews should be arriving any day after that, the mail gods are screwing with me. :scared:

Wow, that is terrible timing! 🙁 Maybe you can improvise with a shoebox or something that has a note begging the mailperson to leave it there until your apartment fixes your mailbox! Or you could just sit out by the mailbox all day waiting for them to get there. If I didn't have to work tomorrow I'd be tempted to do that and my mailbox is currently functional.

Anyway, good luck to everyone! I hope we all get good news! 😀

This is driving me crazy. I really want to focus on beef cattle /equine reproduction which KSU seems to be the place for but I have an interview at UI and was planning on cancelling it if I get into KSU. I'm having a hard time deciding between the two, anyone have any opinions on the two programs?

mail came today and no letter yet..... must be Tuesday for me!!!

I haven't got mine either. I am surprised that no one so far has posted that they got theirs.

ACCEPTED!!! I can't believe it! 😍

Godd luck to everyone else! Don't worry I live in Colorado, so it didn't have very far to go! Your letters are on the way!!!!

What kind of envelope did the letter come in? And Congratulations!

It was in a big manila envelope. There were only three sheets of paper though, so it was skinny. I was telling myself not to get overly excited as I walked to my apartment to open it, just in case.

Yay!! Congrats, kef148! Welcome to K-State!

I think I might be just as nervous for all of you as I was for myself...I hope lots of brown manila envelopes reach SDN-ers on Tuesday!

(Now back to the K-State vs. KU game...GO STATE!)

Kef,

Does this mean you are definitly attending K state?

Does anyone know if waitlisted, what kind of envelope does that letter come in? Also, do they tell you what number you are on the waitlist?

I just got my Kansas State letter. I am waitlisted. It came in a small plain white envelope, and it doesn't say what number on the list I am.

I am probably (not sure, but probably) going to withdraw my application since I've already been accepted to Ohio, which is a less expensive option. It's hard, because Kansas State made a good impression on me while I was there.

Good Luck everyone! :luck:

Rejected. **** that stings, I knew I blew my interview. Well at least I have a case of Miller to drown my sorrows in.

Best of luck to the rest of you!

Agkistrodon, thank you for sharing with us. I am sorry you felt the interview didn't go well. Why do you say that? Were you in state or out? Hope some good news may still be coming for you. Looks like I saw you on the Iowa thread and I was rejected from there with no interview. Just goes to show, you just never know how they pick! They might as well pull names out of a hat.

Ugh!! I just checked the mail and the letter is still not there. I wish Monday wasn't a holiday. I'm all the way in Ohio, so I bet it will be there on Tuesday.:scared:

No letter for me either. I was really hoping it would come today, too, since it seems that UF interview letters are arriving early next week. I at least wanted to spread them out in case one (or both) is bad news. Ugh, this waiting is torture.

my dad just called me. I got in! My mom is hilarious, "Yay, now I can give you that congrats! card I've been saving..." Awesome finding out while I'm home visiting the family. 😀

And :luck::luck::luck: to everyone still waiting for their letter.

For my first question I was asked to explain the estrus cycle in cattle; bear in mind I have, compared to other areas of VM, the least amount of experience in LA. Needless to say I flubbed that one hard. My next question asked of me to explain the differences between a corporate and private SA clinic. Again, no dice: I honestly never paid much attention, and I can say that even after researching this question I still notice no striking disparities . At this point in my interview I am on the verge of a panic attack and I am so obsessed with choosing the right words and enunciating these words correctly I solidify myself as the socially awkward fool I am.

I am OOS. I have a ton of experience in herpetology (reptiles and amphibians-hence to user name) but I am convinced that vet schools really do not give a damn about this area of animals. I've had 4 interviews and ONE (count'em, ONE) question regarding reptiles.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just a bit frustrated. KSU was at the top of my list. Oh well, maybe next year will be better. 😎

Was there anything on your application indicating that you've done anything with repro in cattle? In my experience (and everything I've heard from others anecdotally) they never seem to ask any questions that don't pertain to something you have experience with, unless they're trying to see whether or not you know how to say "I don't know."

Ouch, those questions would have hurt me too. I got Horse Slaughter Act, Prop 2, and what kind of dog should Obama get. All silly and to be honest Im still not sure I understand the Horse Slauhter act so who knows how that went!? I understand your frustration. Hopefully Iowa will come through for you.

Shoot, Agkistrodon, if that had been my interview I would have been in trouble too...your interview committee must have been the toughest one...I got asked a bunch of veterinary economics questions due to my degree...

I'm sorry to hear about KSU's decision -- they don't know what they're missing out on. 🙁

I suppose the question was warranted. It's just frustrating and a bit unnerving to be asked such a question based on a 4 hr AI certification done years ago when I have well over a thousand hours working with herps both within and outside of the clinic clearly displayed on the app sitting in front of all three of the interviewers. Certainly if I'd had better control over my nerves I could have gave a somewhat lucid answer. Ultimately I think it (my lack of success) just boils down to my foibles; I have horrible personal skills.

Okay, that's more than enough of my whining. Let's hear more good news!

Why must CA be so for away from KSU... I was really hoping for a letter in the mail after my crappy day at work. I guess I'll hopefully find out Tuesdy

I have been stalking this post without registering with SDN for months... I cant take it anymore... seriously.. why cant they deliver mail on holidays... are they really planning on making me wait until Tuesday?!?!

Im with you Skillet... Its killing me knowing the decision is made and my letter is sitting in some post office in the middle of the country somewhere!!!

Same here! I was so convinced that yesterday would be the day, I kept waking up (5 AM, 6 AM, etc.) from dreams about silly things like seeing the mailman coming up the block or sorting through a huge pile of mail.

And the waiting continues... 😳 It's going to be so hard to focus in my 12 PM - 6 PM class on Tuesday!

I woke up this morning convinced that I was acceped and had nothing to worry about.. it sucked to remember it was just a dream
