Which of the following is involved in respiration and excretion, and develops into the placenta in humans?

a) Chorion
b) Allantois (Kaplan's answer)
c) Amnion
d) Yolk sac
e) Placenta

Allantois popped into my mind when I read "excretion", but ultimately I thought chorion is the structure that develops into the placenta. Kaplan says, "... Later during development, the vessels enlarge and become the umbilical vessels, which will connect the fetus to the placenta," which is NOT the same thing as saying that allantois develops into the placenta. What's going on here?

I think they worded the question poorly.

I had that same question on the kaplan final and in the final it was worded differently. I guess someone brought it to their attention and they changed it. Who knows??
My question said..

d. yolk sac
e. placenta

p.s. I picked A. and got it wrong. lol.. I don't evn have the excuse that i got confused with the wording.

That's what happens when u use an old edition (which I am using too 😀)
That's question is an error. You can skip it as long as you know what you already know 🙂
