I've been studying the Kaplan book as well. But if you want to make notes and stuff like that then yes it would take you a long time! I finish studying today and I'm planning on taking practice tests from tomorrow (as many as I can) I think that's the best way of getting ready for the DATs. I'd rather take many practice tests than studying the book 3 times!!! Since your test in on the 15th, then I would finish up studying soon and start with practice tests, if you haven't gotten started on it yet. But again each person is different though 🙂

Good Luck!!!

Everyone studies differently. When I started studying CliffsAP Bio, I took notes (that's what I do when I study for classes), but it was taking waaaay too long. Eventually I gave up on taking notes and just wrote in the book itself - little notes in the margins, highlighting things, etc. That way I felt like I was still taking notes w/o taking as much time. That was just my approach. Like I said, everyone studies in their own way, so do what works for you!! Good luck on the DAT!

I agree, I do the same. I have habit of making my own notes for the classes. But to do the same for DAT is a lot of work! So while I am reading shaums I write in the margin & highlight.

I also like to write stuff when I study. Being that your test is so soon though you should really start taking practice tests to get used to answering questions. Knowing the information is one thing but you also have to be good at picking the correct answer and the more questions you see the better youll get at this. Also itll help you with timing, def wana be comfortable with timing before the test and it will also get you more comfortable with the length of the test and being able to perceiver even if you just wana stop after an annoying section. I recommend you not save all your practice tests til next week. They also let you know where you need more work.
But everyone is different. My exams the same week as yours. Good luck!

I would only write down things that you have never seen before or always forget, so in that case you can review just those before your exam.

If you try to make note cards for everything, that would be a lotttttttttttt of work and a waste of time.

Keep eliminating your notecards once you get familiarized with some of them. In the end, you'll only have few notecards to go over.

I think you will find yourself running out of time if you take notes on the whole Kaplan book, and still need to do destroyer and topscore.

I would recommend what others have said, underline/highlight main parts of passages and write in the margins.

The only thing that I would recommend making notecards for is the Orgo section, it doesn't really take that long to put down the reactions onto notecards; I did it in a few hours.

The last thing you want to do is rewrite the Kaplan book and not have enough time to study what you wrote.

If you were going to take notes i suggest it not be on Kaplans. Kaplans is way to easy and is chock full of mistakes. I would suggest taking your notes on the Destroyer instead. I would also suggest not spending alot of time on Kaplans and focus on anything but Kaplans, with destroyer taking first priority.

Should I start straight with doing Destroyer problems on chemistry w/o reading the basic at all?

For instance, if I don't know what the problem's talking about, instead of searching for the answer from books, I'll just look at the answer key in the back. Is that a way to learn from mistakes?
