If you had to choose between the two, I believe you would want to go with the 4 review book series.

I think this is the one everybody keeps talking about....

I think most people use 8 lecture note set.
(anatomy, physiology, biochem, behavioral, micro/immuno,
pharmacology, pathology, Q book)
I used and liked them a lot.

4 reveiw book set is "Home study program" by Kaplan.

I know some people recommended the Kaplan biochem book. Are they referring to the kaplan lecture notes or the actual book thats part of the home study program?

thanks

While we're on the subject of Kaplan, I have my own question.

I have two Kaplan books. Volume 1 is called "USMLE Step 1 Review - General Principles."

Volume 2 is "USMLE Step 1 Review - Organ Systems."

They are the big, thick books. Anyone have advice/experience with these?

Thanks. I wasn't sure what program these books were for.

Oh, and my books are from 2002. I found a thread from '02 and it appears that there were only two books in that edition.

I think they are referring to Kaplan lecture note "biochemistry".
it' easy to get through & remember.
Strong point is biochem pathway! I like "genetics" section too.

Not calling you out, just curious about your thoughts on it.

When I purchased the original Kaplan course (which contained the entire 8 book series), they made us sign this agreement stating that we are aware that selling these books is "illegal" and subject to legal action.

Now I'm wondering... can they actually do this? I mean, didn't we BUY the books and shouldn't we be permitted to do with them as we please? (Short of distributing photocopies, of course.) People sell stuff to used book stores all the time. What is so special about Kaplan's texts? Are they not considered "books" in the legal sense of the word?
