Kaplan course highest vs. Real DAT score

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
pretty damn similar...the bio was from a wider spectrum than kaplan. also, the perceptual was definitely harder, especially angle ranking...hope this helps

Although the real questions were quite different from Kaplan practice tests, my real scores were similar to practice tests. If you are doing well on Kaplan practice tests, don't worry too much about the real thing🙂

Kaplan midterms (not bluebook) are tough...
I got 21/28 on the 1st one, 23/22 on the 2nd one, and ended up getting 24/25 on the real one.

There was a thread about kaplan midterm awhile back, you can do a search to find it. Its in the DAT forum though.

i did slightly better on actual DAT than kaplan

AA was similar but Bio was Higher on the actual exam b/c I did much more than just Kaplan. Don't be fooled and just use Kaplan for the bio or you'll get screwed unless you have a great understanding of everything.

Kaplan is great, just make sure you use some supplements for bio and pat. For bio, I used Schaum's and for PAT i used topscore...I should have used achiever, too. My bio and PAT were lower on the actual. I believe I got in the mid 20s for the kaplan bio and kaplan PAT but got a 21 for the bio and a 19 for the PAT on the actual, and these were my lowest scores.

When I say that I used Schaum's and topscore as a supplement, I really should have used them for my primary studying in those areas. Even topscore seemed a little easy compared to the real thing.

Everything else, Kaplan definitely gives you tons of intense practice.

I didn't get much out of the "required" material from kaplan when I took it, but felt the supplemental questions really helped me gauge my progress. I did better on the real thing on all sections except the PAT.

Definitely do more than just Kaplan for bio. I did better or the same on every section of the real DAT except bio where I was pretty clueless on material that had not be covered by the Kaplan course.

I did better on all sections of the DAT by ~2points except for quantitative..where I was four points lower on the real thing and the PAT..about three points lower.

Study more bio than they give you -- I knew most of my stuff just from classes (I was a bio major).

On the Kaplans I normally scored at about 21/24, on the real thing I scored 22/25. I only used Kaplan, if I were to do it over again I would have used an additional outside bio source.
