Hey guys, I'm having a little trouble deciding if I should get a refund or keep Kaplan. Is the online portion(all those subject tests and practice tests) really worth $1000? I've purchased the destroyer + math, CDP, campbells, cliffs, chads. I was thinking of purchasing Qvault bio. My relative took the dat 15 years ago and said Kaplan used to have the ACTUAL DAT exams and unless they have that, its useless. Are the online materials similar to the real DAT or is it better to spend that money on other software and practice exams? What do you guys think?

For the love of God, man, don't do it! I wasted $1000 so you wouldn't have to!

It's impossible to get academic help, though they claim to be there for you any time. The content is ALL over the place. The book, video lessons, and quizzes all cover different topics. I studied with this course for a month and made very little progress.

It's doable without Kaplan! You have bought the right set of study materials.. definitely get qvault at least for bio.

Yes and no. For PAT, it's too easy. For Reading, it's on par. For Math, it's on par, for the most part. For GC, some of the questions are things I didn't see on topscore/chads/actual dat. For orgo, I think it's okay. For Bio, WAY too easy. I only really used the quizzes and tests and not much of the other review material. Is it worth 1000? No. You'll definitely need CDP (130 for 10 test version). Chads is a must for orgo and gc. Chads is helpful for QR if you're really bad or rusty (his permutations, probability videos are BOMB). Topscore was really good. Cliffs AP Bio was great. My friend gave me Math destroyer and that was fantastic. Honestly, I got Kaplan for the structure because I'd been out of school for a little while and was rusty in all areas. I was on the fence about getting Destroyer only because I didn't think I would have time to finish it and didn't want to spend more money on it. Looking back, not getting Destroyer was a big mistake and I regret not getting it and just pushing my test back a couple of weeks. Now I'm contemplating a retake and that won't happen until August, which is not ideal at all. So lesson learned: do it right the first time! Is Kaplan the way for 1000? Probably not the best bang for your buck, but if you have the cash, then it's not horrible. If you're short on cash, I would probably spend it elsewhere. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Thanks for the replies everyone!

My test is in mid-August and I'm worried because I wont have enough time to go through all the stuff I already have. Time is short and I want to make the best of all the best materials. What I should say ask is if the kaplan online tests are essential or not. I read a lot of posts about people who say the online subject tests and stuff are really good. Others say its garbage and not at all close to the DAT. I'm not in it for the structure, I'm in it for the quality of questions with solutions that are most relevant to the DAT.

My relative took kaplan a long time ago, she said Kaplan had the actual previously administered exams. You were allowed to use those exams only in the kaplan center and they had detailed solutions. Everyday she did exams and she saw patterns in the questions from test to test and figured out tricks. She said that was the way she studied and she did really good. She is a dentist by the way. However that was a while ago and I hear kaplan got rid of that stuff. I know they have the actual tests for the MCAT now instead. She said if they do not have the acutal exams, it is not worth it.
