I have taken the other sections of the Final Exam in the Kaplan Book, and here is what I got (% questions correct) (BTW I am using the 2004-05 PCAT book that does NOT have calculus or sentence completion. I am not terribly worried about those sections, so I am studying that on my own rather than spend the money again.)
Bio: 74
Chem: 63 I was really pressed for time 😡
Quant: 82
Reading: 91
Verbal: 92
On the quantitative section, I went approx 7 mind over time for the last 10 questions. If I were to assume that I did not go over time, and just guessed on the last 10 with an accuracy of 2/10 questions, I estimate that my score would have been about 75% correct.
I also took the Peterson's Test, and I never felt pressed for time during that one, but I kind of felt weird after I took it. Like the questions were not well thought out. Here is what I got on that one:
Reading: 100 (thought the questions seemed way too easy)
Verbal: 74 (thought the questions were REALLY weird)
Biology: 72
Quant: 92
Chem: 70
So I am guessing that the real PCAT is somewhere in between Kaplan and Petersons???
I haven't taken the online practice test yet, but I will soon and will post my scores. Also, after I take the real PCAT, I will post my scores here too, unless I am too pissed off. I would appreciate this info from anyone else. I know there are a lot of factors involved, but I am willing to accept any comparison just for a ballpark estimate. I would like to know how anyone else did on these practice tests, and also what they ended up getting on the real test.
I used to be a premed several years ago before I changed my mind about that, and people posted a lot more on SDN about relative predictability of scores based on different study guides. I am not finding that as much on the PCAT forum, and I wish I knew more about the relative difficulty compared to the real test.
In my opinion, because of the time issue on quantitative and chemistry sections, I think studying for the PCAT has been more difficult than the MCAT in a lot of ways, but of course I haven't taken the PCAT yet. Until studying for the PCAT, I NEVER once felt really pressed for time on any test, including the MCAT. Also I don't really think the content was that much more difficult on the MCAT, although it was different. I got a 33 on the MCAT (12 verbal, 11 physical, and 10 bio), but that was in 2001. I am not expecting to do as well on the PCAT based on my above practice exam scores. Well, maybe it's just that I have been out of school too long, since I finished my BS in 2002.
Any input would be appreciated from current or former PCAT test takers.
Good luck everyone!
