i just took fl 4 today and WOW, that ps section was killer. does anyone else feel the same way? i thought bio was a little more difficult too, but not as bad as ps.

i hope fl 5's ps section is more manageable, b/c i really feel like this one kicked my butt!

I thought it was pretty hard too. But don't worry, if it's really that hard, then everyone else would also do badly, and a low raw score can still turn out to be a good scaled score.

i posted this on the practice scores thread but might as well put it here- almost all the PS passages and half the BS passages were straight from the mcat 45 book, which as it says consists of the hardest possible questions u may see on a mcat. why they decided to stick all these hard passages on one full length is beyond me, but definitely dont worry about it. i dont even know about the curve or anything but i really doubt ur gonna see that many tough passages on the real one.

Yeah I hear ya, topdogg. I distinctly remember the "LHON with restriction enzymes" passage from the MCAT 45 book. And same with the "tipping boat + torque" passage from PS. In the end, I did end up doing slightly lower than what I normally get on the Kaplan FLs.

It owned me as well. Especially the VR section. I just checked my explanations and felt like kicking the guy's butt who wrote the questions. Many of the choices were too close to pick one, and in many cases, I felt that both choices were supported by the passage. The class talks about not inferring too much, but when it comes to their explanations, they go a bit overboard. 😡

My friend said he thinks they made FL4 especially hard so that our scores go up from FL4 to FL5, so then after taking FL5 we feel better, our confidence goes up, and we do well on the real test. I dunno if that's really true or not, but either way we shouldn't get too discouraged by just one test. Keep studying hard and do well on the next one! 🙂

i just checked my friends book and 7/9 PS passages alone were from the mcat 45 book, so i wouldnt worry about this test. kaplan is probably trying to play the psych factor of getting a big improvement from fl 4 to 5.

I'm glad I read this thread, because that test hurt my feelings 😉 I was feeling really dumb while I was taking it, and while I thought the PS and BS were very hard, I thought the verbal was manageable. My score said just the opposite!

Ya, I just took it this past weekend...I got a 7 9 10 (that's my best Bio score, and my worst PS score since the diagnostic). Put it this way, I had a 36% raw score on PS and it was still a 7...that's so horrible. I got 11% more right than one would theoretically get right if they just guessed down the whole thing 😱

toppdogg - you may be right. My buddy said all his friends had marked improvements from 4 to 5 when he took the course for April, but he said he himself degressed from 4 to 5 (he thought 4 was easy 🙄 )

i just got owned by FL 4.....scored a 9,9,9...made a ass load of silly mistakes on BS so BS wasnt too bad....i cant believe i missed over half of the PS....i had made 11,10,12 on FL 3....

i long for TPR and AAMC 5-7 PS....

I got a 11, 11, 13 on FL#4. Not far off from from my other scores. I knew this one would be hard so I really tried my hardest. I thought FL#3 was the worst but thats just me.
