I failed the Step 1 this summer and am restudying to take it beginning of October. I am doing the Kaplan 2010 videos rite now followed by related Kaplan Qbank questions. I plan to finish this by the end of August. I was planning on doing the DIT program in September along with all of Uworld. So I am wondering, how much more will DIT help me after doing Kaplan? Please give me your thoughts. Thanks!

The idea has strengths and weaknesses. My initial plan was to cover Kaplan LNs and videos and to follow that up with two weeks of DIT. However, in the end I felt my time would be better spent just knocking FA cold.

If your problem is sitting down and learning off First Aid or if your problem is that you tend to lack structure, then go for it. It typically takes me 10-14 days to run through FA thoroughly, anyway, so it won't cost you much in terms of days.

Bottom line, it's a good idea if your weaknesses are those stated above. From what I've read, you're sitting your exam in October which means you do have time.

I did all the kaplan videos, finished COMBANK, Kaplan QBank, and most of UWorld, I also got through the first 10 days of DIT...I was able to score a little above national avg on the COMLEX...i think DIT makes a huge difference along with questions...I know I got a handful of questions correct on the exam because of some of the extras he mentioned during the lectures

I actually planned to do the same thing for my step studying, but decided against it. After you cover the material with Kaplan, with its amazing professors, you will notice the huge contrast between Kaplan profs and DIT ppl. IMO just watch the kaplan videos, do a LOT of questions (as many as u can: usmlerx, kaplan Qbank, uworld), and try integrating FA as much as you can. Then for the last week, only read FA and try to put everything together in your head. just my opinion. good luck!

What do you mean huge contrast? Doesnt DIT just go through FA? Atleast that's what I thought.
