I am just wondering whether KAPLAN course actually prep for DAT... I am taking DAT in the summer and not sure whether I should take KAPLAN class....

My dear friend....when it comes to studying for the DAT. Everything is worth the money. Kaplan for example you can use its ochem and gchem section in correlation with destroyer and you are pretty much set. Now i cant say much cause i still have not taken my DAT. But one thing im sure of, if it wasnt good then people wouldnt still buy them and they wouldnt stay in business. Get the material, study them and then take practice tests. BTW good start time, cause DAT studying is no where close to studying for a BIOCHEM final or an anatomy final. GOODLUCk and SEARCH this forum, you will find a lot of answers.

I personally would not recommend taking the class. Ive taken the class and the DAT and didnt do well. The class is a hand holding session where the instructor reads out of the lesson book for 3 hours. I can read just fine on my own as im sure you can and spending 1300 for someone to read out of a book didnt make me feel like I got my money's worth. I would prepare using the books and resources discussed in the DAT forum and if you feel you need some further assistance then I would consider taking the course.

Wouldn't the quality of classes depend on the instructors in the diff areas???

i'm with elerly....the class is definitely not worth it. i took it too and class didn't help me AT ALL. i guess depends where you think you stand when it comes to science knowledge. if you are completely oblvious about bio, gchem, and ochem, then i guess it would be helpful. i have a pretty good understanding of the subjects, so i didn't find it to be great. but the practice tests they give and subject tests are well worth it, though you can find them floating around. it's basically all about self studying in my opinion. i find it that you can can alot more done when you study on your own and just ask for clarification on the forum =).

Yea, MMS. People are right. Wat it comes down to is amount of resources you can get from kaplan besides the blue book. I mean the Bluebook, that u can get from B&N for a lot less than a grand and the classes that they offer basically it does comes down to the instructor who most of the time are just those people who pardon the expression ~stuck it to the DAT~. So is the class worth signing up for, you be the judge. You do get more resources and the class well if u go and see that its filled with bunch of D.bags with the instructor being one of them then dont bother going to the class and just use the resources.

Kaplan is a waste of money, period. You can spend that money on other materials (destroyer, top score, achiever, crack the pat, biology reviews etc).

yea... I wasnt sure whether I should take the class or not. I look at the price and it choked me up. haha... I think I have to think about taking the class or not then.. Thanks for the advice.🙂

I did not take the Kaplan course and do not really see how it could help. If you are motivated enough to put yourself through their classes, you should be motivated enough to put in enough time in the library, den, bar, or wherever you like to study to do well on the DAT. You just need a plan. Evaluate yourself (through some practice tests or something), know your weakness, study, repeat. You will continously narrow down and focus on your problem areas (like going from problem area Biology-> genetics->gene regulation) and should find yourself very well prepared for anything the DAT can throw at you. I don't see how the Kaplan course can provide this kind of focus as I assume it is a class environment with more than one person. Good luck in your prep!

the class if not a miracle process that guarantees getting a 23 or whatever. It all depends on how much you put in, if you spend time out of class still. I think some people think if they just do the class they are set, which they are not.

i have not done the class, but i would imagine it wouldn't hurt your score... when it comes to getting into dental school, if this is the deciding factor, wouldn't you be willing to spend 1300 bucks to get in?

I personally think it would be worth it to take in the long run
