Kaplan or USMLE World question..

I know that when you strickly down load questions you use up Memory on you computer.. But when you just go over them as in Kaplan or USMLE World.. Do you still use up memory?.. Does a jump/flash drive or external hard drive help in this case? Please excuse the computer ignorance...
