Kaplan Organ System Books

What do you guys think about using the organ system books independtly (ie. no lectures and not the 8 lecture series books)?

I like the idea of keeping it simple also (I have read some other posts that are advocating the same thing) but are there any third years out there who could validate the usage of the these books?? I am going to look for these books used I think b/c I like the idea of not have 19 different books and just settling in with something that should have all information necessary....

Thoughts???

I think they are way too wordy for efficient Step 1 studying...Use First Aid plus a few other concise books.

Anyone else have opinions about the Kaplan organ-based books?

Has anyone used them and actually thought they were good?

I have them and have come to the conclusion that they are too wordy/not enough pics, but are they useful as a secondary text?

Just trying to figure out if I should plan on using them at all or scrap them and buy more of the usuals (BRS, HY)

I used the Kaplan organ based books to study for Step 1 and found them very helpful. My school uses the traditional lectures and I found these books useful for tying up loose ends since it approached the material in a different way. They are very long (about like two telephone books!) but probably no worse than all the BRS or HY books combined. I took about 5 weeks to study using these books, Q Bank, and First Aid (I took notes from the QBank questions I missed in my First Aid book which was very nice when I read First Aid the last week of studying). I had already read the BRS books while studying for each test through first and second years and felt like I needed to read something different. I was very happy with my choice and scored the national average on Step 1 which was higher than I expected (just so you know my class rank was middle of the class after the first two years).
