I was going through the kaplan bb test in the back for fun and i came across a question that i think is wrong, at least according to the teachings of Destroyer ochem. For those of you who have the book its question #93

Basically draw this if you dont have it:

-CH(CH3)2 on a benzene ring and react it with Br2/hv

I thought you were supposed to take off the benzyllic hydrogen and get benzene-CBr(CH3)2

None of the answer choices show this and i think it should be the correct answer...even look at #90 in the same test and see what happens when they react the EXACT same thing with Br2/hv

haha its a typo, they have benzene-BrCH(CH3)2 which is impossible it should be benzene-BrC(CH3)2...stupid kaplan

yeah that's what makes sense to me too! When there's Br2/hv, the Br should attach to the carbon that is connected to the benzene!

yea they are stupid tho they have 5 bonds to C which is impossible its a typo...

check out #90 as well its also a typo they have 5 bonds to C there also...
