Hi,

I never took psychology or sociology courses in undergrad, so I read on here that Kaplan or Princeton Review is my best bet, as they are more comprehensive that Examkrackers (which is more concise but not as thorough). I didn't really see a consensus on which of the 2 (Kaplan or TPR) would be better for someone in my situation (not familiar with these subjects and need something comprehensive). Thanks in advance for any input!

I have both books so I think I can give an adequate opinion. I do think both of them really hit home on the meat of what the P/S section is about. I do like the structure more of Kaplan because it makes the whole review book more comprehensive.

However, with TPR they do provide a passage a chapter along with discrete questions and Kaplan only has discrete question. Also if you buy only ONE TPR book you get 3 free FL's compared to having to buy the whole Kaplan set for 3 FL's. So in terms of perks I'd say TPR is better but you really cant go wrong with either of them

S0 was your plan to do the psych/soc content review by reading both books? Would you recommend that?

My intent was to use both books for an extensive review (since I already purchased the Kaplan set), I first started with Kaplan. But I ended up just skimming TPR after reading Kaplan cover-to-cover because there were ALOT of the same terms. I think one book is sufficient for content review if you supplement with Khan academy, I loved all of thier videos for the P/S section.

From what my friends who did very well on the P/S section said, they just tried to make a giant vocabulary list of the terms for this section and brute memorize as much as they can. Along with some actual practice. From what I've heard comparison wise, Kaplan's vocab might be better, but PR does a heck of a lot better job capturing the "feel" of the actual exam.

Thanks for the advice, all! I ended up ordering both books. My plan is to use Kaplan for content review and Princeton Review for its passages (as well as supplementary content). Oh, and making sure to watch all of the psych/soc vids on Khan Academy 🙂
