Hi, I am posting this here too hopefully I'll get more responses from recent DAT takers..............
just another quick question regarding Organic Chem mechanisms, I am primarily relying of Kaplan for my OChem preparations but I noticed that they are missing lots and lots of mechanisms and even for some reagents they miss stuff like addition of heat or light or even more reagent components, so do I need to go back to my text book and dig for all the mechanisms and specifice reagents just in case it might come up or should I just rely on what kaplan has ????

waiting for all of your honest replys especially those of you who actually attmpted the real monster, I would greatly appreciate your advices

have a great day

My ochem education in undergrad was SEVERELY lacking in the mechanisms area, and I had no problem whatsoever. Trust Kaplan, they tell you exactly what you need to know. Questions focus much more on products of reactions than really specific reaction conditions (light, heat, etc.) or mechanisms... it wouldn't really be practical for them to have mechanism questions, because it would take up too much space and they can't exactly have you draw the arrows in! If you master Kaplan, you will do great. No worries!
