Sorry if this has been talked about to death, if so please direct me to the information.

I have been offered an interview at Kirksville for a "possible" slot this year (basically their wait-list), or a spot in next year's matriculating class. I will not be waiting a year, so that's out. I'm wondering if it's worth buying a flight to go out to KCOM for a chance to get in, when I have a bird in hand at Western.

Those of you who have interviewed at both places - I would really value your impressions.

Those of you that interviewed at both places and now attend one of them - your input would be most appreciated and valuable.

Thank you.

I personally don't really think it's worth interviewing this late at a school, unless you live really close to that school, because like I'm sure you already know, you'll most likely be interviewing for a waitlist spot. I actually turned down interviews this late in the game when I applied to med school and chose to go to Western, and I'm having a wonderful experience. Good luck with your decision!

Go to KCOM. Of all of the schools that I have interviewed at this year, the admissions staff at KCOM has been the most genuine in wanting and helping you to attend their school. Give it a hard look before you make any final decision

this is coming from somone whos never interviewed, never been accepted and has actually never even applied...BUT...jusr from reading posts on here and my own research id say Western 😉

At which school would you be MOST happy?

:luck: You have to see if for yourself. I loved KCOM when I interviewed there! But it is not for everyone. It is very RURAL. I repeat RURAL. If that's not cool with you, think HARD about it! Find out if it is a place you could see yourself going. If so, then go to the interview! Everyone there is incredibly nice and encouraging. I have absolutely no doubts that you would get an amazing education there. One thing I liked about it was that there is a hospital on campus, giving you the opportunity for ward-based exposure in yrs 1-2, not JUST preceptorships like some other osteopathic schools. Also keep in mind that you will more than likely spend yrs 3-4 in neighboring areas of MO or another part of the country for clinical training.

Sorry, but I don't know much about these things for Western. I did not interview there.

I interviewed at both schools and felt like KCOM had more of a "med school" atmosphere and the cost of living was much cheaper at KCOM vs. Western. I would call the admissions office and let them know of your situation and ask them for sure if you are interviewing for waitlist spot. If it sounds like you have a chance, I would definately go to KCOM.
