KCU-COM Joplin vs ACOM

Really debating between going to KCU-COM Joplin location vs ACOM

KCU-COM

Pros

1) One of first DO schools, well established and alumni network
2) P/F curriculum
3) Attendance is not mandatory
4) Much closer to home


Cons

1) Heard alot of negative things regarding curriculum and faculuty


ACOM

Pros

1) Very high match rates
2) Better year round weather, close to beach, bigger city (all pros for my mental health lol)
3) Rotation sites are great, easier to do a rotation down in Florida where I have been living
4) Higher complex 1 rates (KCU was 89.5% in 2023 and ACOM was 93.6%)

Cons

1) Newer DO school, less reputable
2) Grading system


Both schools are similar in town sizes, so that doesn't play a big factor. Both schools are also similar in terms of rotations and placements for residencies. Tuition is also similar. Is there any advice current students can provide?

ACOM! Faculty and friends have been like a family. Super supportive all the way, especially with rotations. I believe at KCU students end up paying thousands just to rotate at random sites, and that is not typical for ACOM students at all. All our sites have been well structured for 3rd and 4th years.

Clinical experiences started early and have been way above my expectations (I applied 3 years ago and was on the fence as well since it was new then). Will be applying competively in a few months. Let me know if you have any questions
