So I got an email from KCUMB saying that I'm short 2 credits in Genetics (a class I wasn't planning on taking as its not a req for my major).

I asked them if they accept Biochem or Physio class instead of the genetics, and they said to send them a course discription and they will review it.

My question is has anyone done this before, or should I just take genetics next year instead?

I think that cell biology will count for those credits, but that is the only course I have heard of them accepting.

Genetics is sort of a gateway course; it is hard to really comprehend anything upper level in biology without a firm foundation in genetics. You should take it.

I'm missing genetics as well but i've taken so many molecular cell biology courses since that's my major. if anyone is able to substitute any classes for genetics, please let me know. i have a hard time enrolling in a class in the area.

thanks

Im missing the same genetics course. My UG major was Biomedical Sciences, so I really cant imagine that we didnt cover enough genetics in those courses for me to be able to comprehend med school material. I know that they *can* substitiute classes for the genetics; but in my interview, my interviewer told me point blank that he was the one who evaluates the substitute class criteria and that nothing I took was good enough to count. (and Ive taken med. microbiology, neurology, immunology, anat., physiology, histology, and others). *sigh* guess im taking an UG genetics class next semester.
