It does seem like the acceptances go in waves, doesn't it? I see a couple of people have been given a day or so to think about their USC offer before accepting or declining it---- the school most likely has to wait until they respond before calling others off the list.

It is still extremely early and lots will probably happen over the next few weeks!! Good luck to everybody and post if you hear something!! 🙂 :luck: :luck:

You could sell about half of your liver, too (it grows back). USC's one of the few places I'm still holding out for. Hope we hear from Dr. Q soon! Good luck, everyone. =)

Has anyone heard anything this week from Keck? All of the movement seems to have come last week. 🙁 Does anyone know if the class is already full? 👍 👎 Please phone ring!!!

Does anybody know how many people have been accepted off of the waitlist so far this year? In past years, it seems to have been 20-40 total.

Guys, I got the call from Dr Quinn today! I'm in! I'm so happy, I walked into my boss's office and burst into tears.

And the waitlist is totally moving again. One thing that I did that may have helped was I sent a personal e-mail to Dr Quinn. She responded within a day to say that she would "be in touch soon" and then, she called a few days later. I don't know if it was coincidence or not, but it's worth trying!

Good luck to you all. :luck:

This is so strange. I called the office of admissions today around 4:30, and I was told that no waitlist movement had occured yet at USC. The person I talked to said they were still processing withdrawals, and were not even sure yet how many they would be taking from the waitlist. What is going on????

congrats chicklett!!! did you say anything in particular in your letter to Dr. Quinn?

That is strange---I called the office yesterday and they said waitlist movement has begun (obviously!) and will continue until school starts.....If I may say so though, the USC admissions office has been one of the most obtuse and least helpful ones that I have dealt with, and I say that despite loving the school itself. I think the withdrawal processing part is true, lots of people wait until May 15th to withdraw and the spots they create aren't available right away.

It's still early----not even June yet! And keep in mind that there are still accepted folks who get in off other school waitlists over the summer and that creates yet more spots in the class. Good luck to everyone and keep posting with any news!! :luck: :luck:

I am really confused. I initially though that the woman I talked to was mistaken about there being no movement because I have seen like five people on this site claiming to have been taken off. So, I called back about ten minutes later to see if I could talk to another person. This time I got a man on the phone, and he said that absolutely NO ONE had been called off of the alternate list. I did not give them my name, so I doubt they are trying to jerk me around because they don't even know who I am or where I am on their list. It is funny because my sister has a connection to one of the people on the commitee. I told her about a week ago that I was concerned about my chances because I was seeing people being pulled already on this website, she told me she would talk to her friend. Apparently, he also said no movement had occured. I am beginning to feel like I am going crazy.

Well I think I said the usual stuff. I said that USC was my top choice for med school and if accepted I would withdraw from everywhere else immediately (and this is absolutely true). I also said that what draws me to USC is the opportunity to work in one of the most racially diverse underserved communities in the country. I talked about how this is consistent with the medical work I have done thus far, and I said that I am committed to promoting positive change in the USC community. Something like that. I also had my biochem professor send an extra letter of recommendation. That might have helped too.

Good luck! Despite what the admissions people may say, I am certain that the waitlist is still moving. :luck:

I got the call yesterday from Dr. Quinn as well...I guess I will see the rest of you down in LaLa land in august.

Congrats! We'll see you in August!

Is anyone who is getting calls gettting any sort of financial aid like grants or scholarships? That 65K a year is pretty steep (Compared to 23K for my state school).

When I talked to Dr Quinn on the phone on Friday, I was told that the financial aid people would start working on my package on Tuesday and would send it out "as soon as they are done." She didn't know what the specifics of the awards package would be.

Has no one else heard anything in the last couple of days? I am getting a little worried that they have filled many of their open spots and will have to wait for more withdrawals before offering more acceptances....

Or they could be getting ready to offer up a bunch of spots from the May 15th withdrawal processing date----good luck to everybody!! :luck:

I withdrew yesterday.. so spots ARE opening up and will continue to do so. (I also know some of my friends who are waiting on wait lists and may withdraw anytime up until classes start..)

Thank you ablumoon and beffers! Congrats on your acceptances. 😀

Hey Guys -

I got off the waitlist about 30 minutes ago. I will be attending, and dropping my spot at Rochester.

I interviewed in October (WAY early) and got waitlisted in November. I had a horrible student interview, and thought my chances of getting off the waitlist were nill. I sent in 3 update letters by snailmail throughout the year, and emailed Dr. Quinn periodically to express my interest. In my last email, I offered that I would definitely attend if accepted. She called me this morning to offer me a spot!

Congratulations to everyone that has gotten in off the waitlist so far!!!! I hope that my phone will ring soon!!! PLEASE RING!!!!!
