Keeping each other updated

And just got an e-mail from Oregon State. My app is complete and they'll let me know between January - March.

Sheesh, that's quite a window. I guess I'll be getting to know my mail man...

I received an email today saying that my UC Davis application is complete, that interview notifications will go out starting early February, that interviews will be conducted mid-Feb through mid-March, and that decisions will be sent "no later than April 1, 2008."

For the second time this application cycle I have talked to a very clueless person in the VM Dean's office. This time the person said that they were not sending out e-mails unless you had something missing from your file. Last time he told me that my GRE scores had to be there by Oct 1 when in reality I just had to have taken them by Oct 1. I'm positive it is the same person and it's pretty lame that they have someone in their office giving out bad information. 👎

today i got an email saying my colorado application was complete (i'll hear before february, hopefully) and another email saying two of my advisors didn't send in their letters to the dual program at penn (aaaaaaaah!).

I got my letter from Penn today w/ the postcard that serves as their supplemental. It is the exact same format as last yr. Don't worry if you did not get your letter yet-I live close by the school.

Is this the card that invites you for an interview?

No. The postcard is literally Penn's version of a supplemental. It is not a guarantee of an interview. You have to check your preference: small animal, equine, etc., your current GPA, last 45 credits and send the postcard back to them.

Sorry to hear that about Davis, nyanko. I'd keep trying and hopefully you'll get a different person, or maybe ask to speak w/Ms. Williams herself. Last year they sent out emails to everyone notifiying whether the app was complete or incomplete, and I would bet they will do the same this year. Plus, if they were only notifying about incompletes, then why on earth would they send me one saying it's complete?!

p.s. Got the CSU "your application is complete" email today as well. Fingers crossed - I LOVE Colorado!!

i got an email from CSU saying their missing my undergrad transcripts. WTF? everyone else got them. oh well, better get on that, because my heart, too, belongs to colorado!

I got my card from Penn today as well. It simply asks for your name, area of interest, whether any of your relations are Penn faculty or alumni, and for you to self-report your overall GPA and last 45 GPA. The letter states that if your application is incomplete, there will be a postcard enclosed stating what's missing. If there's no extra postcard, your app is complete!

I live fairly close to Penn as well, so be patient if yours has yet to arrive. 🙂

Nyanko - I talked to the same guy! He said that we shouldn't expect any emails unless something was missing. I'm applying to DVM/PhD and wanted to confirm that they had gotten those forms - he was totally unhelpful. I wanted say "but on SDN I know people have gotten emails, therefore I know that you're mistaken!" but that didn't seem prudent, for a number of reasons.

Tufts: I've gotten a number of very nice emails and login/password to their application status page, which is currently incomplete for me but they say that it will take some time to get that all updated. This is no longer true - I'm all good to go!

Penn: I too got the little postcard. There's no spot for research... was this the same way last year?

Oregon: got an email saying my app was complete and that they'll be "thoroughly evaluating" all applications, we'll hear back between january and march.

I got the same "your application is complete" email from Colorado State.

Kansas- still nothing, for those of you who got post cards are you in-state or OOS?

I got the postcard from KSU at the end of September I believe and I'm OOS. I would give them a call. They were very helpful when I called. Good luck! 🙂

Anyone hear anything yet from UF or Michigan?

I heard from Michigan State, there is a conversation going on in the interview thread if you would like some more information 🙂

Thanks!! 😀

Got a letter today from Texas A&M saying I needed a couple more prereqs to finish by next May '08 (Speech & Tech Writing).

The letter also said:

"All applicants should be notified of an interview status by December 21, 2007. All interviews will be conducted between December and mid-February."

Mossyducks, Do you have two addresses? If so, which one did TAMU send the letter to? I'm in-state but going to undergrad in a different state, so just wondering where to possibly expect a letter.

Also, when was your application submitted from TMDSAS to TAMU?

We should be hearing about possible interviews in about a month!

Thanks!

I got an email yesterday from Kansas State for an interview on January 6th. I am abroad so I am not sure if my mom got any mail from them or not, but I don't think so.

I emailed them and she said I should have gotten the postcard since my app is complete. She also said that my while my GPA is competitive, my GRE composite (not sure what that is) isn't competitive for OOS so I probably wont be invited for an interview 🙁

THat's terrible to hear over the phone! I guess maybe it's a relief to know where you stand, but I''m surprised that she gave out evaluative information that way. It seems like most schools, when I call them say things like "yes, we received X" or "no, blah blah" but nothing personal about my application.... anyhow, good luck with your future stuff!

Hey everyone,

I just talked to Francis at KSU and she informed me that everyone should hear about first round interviews by the middle of December. She also told me don't expect to hear about second round interviews (if you didn't make the first round) until the end of Feb. or first of March.

She also told me that they had an unusually high amount of applicantions to sort through this year.

Sorry to hear that. Your composite score is the quantitative plus the verbal score added together (your total score).

Is anyone else still waiting to hear from Penn?? I know several have received their "postcard" secondaries, but still nothing here.... =o)

No postcard here either.

Hi all-
I got my postcard from Penn today but I live pretty close so I wouldn't be too worried-they said in the letter that they're not starting to read apps until December.

more about penn - i spoke to the dean and he said they literally read every single application, so hopefully people who might not be too strong with grades, but have great recommendations and personal statements will do better than they initially thought!

I understand that getting a postcard doesn't guarantee an interview, but does NO POSTCARD mean NO INTERVIEW? I've read that not everyone gets a postcard ... In the past, has everyone who has eventually gotten an interview first received a postcard?

I got the same letter. The fact that it was sent by mail in an official looking envelope had me convinced that it was a letter about whether or not I'd gotten an interview. Needless to say, I was disappointed when it covered information that I already knew

Yes, you need to get a postcard. If you haven't gotten one you could email Roseanne Herpen (that's who it was last year). Mine got lost in the mail and took 2 weeks to get here. I actually got the resent postcard a few days before the original showed up. That sure had me worried!

Got the letter from A&M, but frustrated as it says I need classes that I took last semester! I know the transcripts arrived, guess they will be receiving a call from me...

I got the letter from TAMU as well!

Got the "application complete" e-mail from Western today. 🙂

Heard from MSU (Mississippi State University) yesterday saying that they are still reviewing applications and should finish up in mid-December at which time they will notify candidates for interviews. Interviews will be in Feb. on Tuesdays and Thursdays of the third and forth week.

Received email from Western today that my
"application is now complete & will be sent to the admissions committee for review! Interviews will be held late January through early February and your family is invited to join you for the presentation portion of the day (details will follow). Should you be invited, you can expect to be on campus for a full day."

I don't think postcard = interview. I talked to one of the admissions office staff yesterday and he confirmed that they won't even begin reading apps until December (as has been posted by someone else). My postcard is on the way though!

It's definitely not. I received a postcard last year, and never got an interview. My rejection letter came in January, I believe.

Getting a postcard from Penn is a far cry from actually receiving an interview. Most people get postcards, unless you don't meet their minimum requirements.

I have a friend who has yet to submit a Penn application and has received a postcard (long story short, she spoke with the dean and he said to send everything in by December 1st). So a postcard is by no means an invitation to an interview.

Yes, I got this too. They also stated that they have accepted my request to take more than the allotted two pre-req courses after the fall semester deadline. I guess this is good, right?

Ugh, Florida, they are giving me a hard time about my residency. I have to send them all kinds of verification. I don't have a voter's registration card!!! I don't want to register, either, that means jury duty!!! :scared:

haha! jury duty isn't that bad! they summoned me while i was abroad, then during my finals, and finally i'm like "you guys are stupid" and i went. the case i went through jury selection for was about a cement truck guy or something, i don't really know, but the guy next to me was like "i feel like i can't contribute an unbiased view on this case because i hate cement truck companies." what a convincing story...

the good news is that i don't have to go back for six years (!!!!)

Ha! Nothing like paying oos tuition for 4 years to avoid doing some jury duty =o)

Sorry to hear that. Your composite score is the quantitative plus the verbal score added together (your total score).

KSU's composite includes the writing section too. For example, if you got a 6 on the writing that would equal 800 points to be added to the verbal and the quantitative scores to get your composite.
