Fellow students,

How do you keep track of your homework/external notes that you need for a class? I use to use an Excel spreadsheet to write down everything I needed to do in a certain class, but I'd much rather use an app. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I used to use Springpad, but it's no longer available and made us switch to Evernote, so I guess I'm using that haha.

I use an actual paper planner/calendar. I'd feel lost without it! I write test dates, hw, appointments, and any other relevant notes in there. I also use google calendar on my phone/computer for appointments and classes. If I need to write a quick note or list while I'm out, I use the google keep app on my phone.

Same here. I tried to use a calendar but I end up never using it lol.

If you can build good organizational habits now, that will pay great dividends in the future.

In college as someone said above I just kept track of it all in my head.

In med school and moreso in residency and professional life, that gets too much and things get missed. Nothing more embarrassing than sleeping through a meeting with a research mentor.

I use iCal for everything these days, and paper to-do lists. For any meetings, lectures, tumor boards, etc. I put them all on my calendar. When I get an email with an appointment, I put it on my calendar and then file the email into a subfolder titled schedule emails. For deadlines or due dates I set them up with advance alerts to remind me. I use the repeat function for regular things like weekly or monthly meetings.

I don't think my system is perfect or the most efficient by any means, but it is what works for my habits.

My only point is to build better habits now when you have a (relatively) lower stress environment to figure out what works best.

Post-it notes for everything. I use the e-post it notes that come with Windows if I don't have actual post-it notes on me at the time. Also use paper to-do lists when there's too much for a post-it. Like 95% of my "to-do" items aren't for school though; I can usually keep a pretty good running memory of everything that's due.

Haha, in high school I never used a planner because high school = homework, but in college all I do is study so when a prof. assigns homework, I instantly forget. 🙁

I use this app called iStudiez Pro to keep track of everything in my phone. I like the simple design and how you can customize each class. I also use a planner I'm old fashioned and like the use of paper.
I've found the app is better for assignments and exams (it sends reminders to me) but my planner is better for scheduling extracurriculars/work/meetings and study plans.
The app is much easier to ignore than the paper planner though. I can just swipe a notification away on my phone, but I can't do that with my planner.

Business Calendar - app for android
It's color coded, you can turn different calendars on and off easily (such as if you don't want to look at your upcoming HW on a holiday or a Fri night), move events, duplicate them, tap them to be taken to navigation to the address, etc. Fully syncable with gCal, including Tasks, which also show up on the calendar. I like to put a calendar widget on one screen with only today/tomorrow's appts, no tasks, and then a Tasks widget on the other with assignments, etc (you can have it show you only the upcoming week's work if you'd like). Then you can enter the entire syllabus at the beginning, but your phone only shows you what's due this week.

I hate evernote. Too complicated for me. I just use an electronic calendar on google.
