Why does it decrease cortisol and androgens, but increase mineralcorticoids? How does this work? Thanks.

It blocks 17-a-hydroxylase, an enzyme responsible for the pregnenolones (cortisol and androgen pathway precursors)

(it also blocks 3-b-deh and 11-b-hyd, but these are not relevant to your question)

Just wanted to add that it inhibits a liver CYP that breaks down aldostrone so that is why it might increase it and as mentioned above inhibits steroid synthesis.

good stuff--
am i missing anything else that it blocks.
1. 17 alpha hydrox
2. 3beta deh
3. 11b hydroxylase
4. 14 alpha demethylase in ergosterol membr synth.
5. cyp450 Inhib.

Anything else, in terms of MOA?

Thanks a lot
