Hello

For the following problem I keep getting the same answer. I dont know why it is wrong. I am following this link in youtube to solve this, which has been extremely helpful for key holes. However I am still getting this wrong. Anyone can please explain me? I keep getting C using the youtube strategy. But the answer is B. Sorry for such a simple question .

Thank you

The problem with that question is that there are a few tiny folds and the initial hole punch creates a quarter of a hole in one place. This one is pretty hard to explain. I would suggest re-creating the exact folds on a piece of paper and using a hole punch to make the hole and then unfolding it to see how B is the correct answer. In short once the last tiny fold is unfolded that creates a quarter hole in the bottom. Unfolding through you get a quarter hole in the bottom left. Then the tiny fold in box two is unfolded which creates a half hole and then the first fold in box one is unfolded to create the whole hole in the bottom left.

If you use the LOS technique you have to remember to create the holes on the "mirror side of the line" regardless of how much of the hole is there (half punch, quarter punch, etc) esp. when there are tiny folds.

Workings with the LoS technique, I'll try to explain this.

First hole is in bottom left quadrant (top right hole) --> First fold (folding bottom left flap down) does not produce any mirror holes. ELIMINATING CHOICES A, E

2nd fold is diagonal, bringing bottom left corner UP to top right corner --> this creates a mirror hole punch in the top right quadrant (bottom left hole) ELIMINATING CHOICES D

3rd fold is second column from the left and folding it left --> producing mirror hole in bottom left quadrant (top left hole) NO CHOICES ELIMINATED ( B AND C LEFT)

This is where you may have gotten confused.

4th fold is the bottom left corner flap, there is a half hole punched onto the flap from previous 3rd flap. THIS IS MIRRORED DOWNWARDS WHEN YOU REFLECT IT. --> producing a mirror hole in the very left bottom corner. ELIMINATING CHOICE C

ANSWER IS : B

I hope this helped🙂
