So I'm seeing a vast discrepancy between KHAN Academy CHEM/PHYS and BIO practice passages compared to just about every other practice I can find. What do you guys think of them? They seem to be extremely poor quality and not resemble any other practice material at all.

The content also seems to be unusually difficult not that is is actually hard but that the content is not covered at all by the AAMC outline or premed courses (for instance, I just came across a passage entirely on Fourier transformations).

Other practice tests/questions I can actually relate them to my premed coursework but the KHAN Academy ones seems to share no common ground with my existing knowledge.

KEEP IN MIND IM ONLY TALKING ABOUT PHYS/CHEM and BIO.

Would you guys suggest using this material for practice?

I used KA after reading through all of EK and TPR. I would read the section notes rather than watching the videos. The psych notes can be found on reddit and are particularly useful. Wouldn't use the actual practice questions too much.

C/P in Khan Academy gets weird and tests concepts at depth that the MCAT does not reach. I think I saw one passage that involved Fourier transforms - even though you don't have to know what a Fourier transform is to get the gist of the passage, the MCAT most likely will not have that level of math/physics on it. Bio, however, was fairly representative of the MCAT. I would pay very close attention to Khan Academy B/BC and P/S passages - less so on their C/P.

Only real thing I found useful from KA was the psych/sociology notes. The science stuff was pretty good from third party books. Just my 2 cents.

The only reason I ask is because I am doing very well understanding AAMC, NextStep, EK, Kaplan, TPR passages. However, when I try Khan Academy passages I feel like I'm literally reading a foreign language. Really plummets my confidence. Not sure whether I should take that as a sign that I'm not doing very well.

KA passages are more difficult than the real thing from my personal experience

I wouldn't even say they're more difficult, it's just that the material is so new (not related to pre-reqs) that it takes me an extremely long time to understand the passage.

For instance most people say Kaplan or TPR are more difficult than the real thing, yet their passages at least are relevant to premed coursework, which makes it easier for me.

I would ignore the passages that focus on topics not on the AAMC content outline. If you got time after you are done studying, you can revisit them. More than likely they won't show up on the real exam. You should take AAMC Full length exam 1 to see where you are at and adjust your study habits accordingly. Then maybe after you finish KA take Full length 2.

If you want more in depth and better explanations try the AK lectures on youtube... i enjoyed them
