Should the courses we enter be in caps? All my transcripts lists course titles in all capital letters, and I know the AMCAS says that we should type in the exact course name as on the transcript. On the other hand, their manual says in different places that we shouldn't right in all caps.

spaghetti is write, you def shouldn't do that!

I did it, and it processed fine. No one cares if you put it in caps or not.

yeah, but if I were to read it in all caps, I would be annoyed and then, hehe, you know the rese

If you're just talking about putting "BIOL", "CHEM", I think that's fine. Are you talking about putting "GENERAL CHEMISRTY I" etc.? That might get annoying, but I don't think it will be detrimental 🙂

Don't the AMCAS instructions, (which nobody has ever read, judging from SDN threads of late) explicitly tell you not to do this?

Yeah, they tell you not to use all caps when typing your PS or work activities 😀

Yeah, but they also say to type your courses in exactly as it is on the transcript.

OK, let's all just be a little less anal, shall we? Nobody is going to reject your application because of the case that your classes are written in for crying out loud!!!!! Can you imagine calling up the school and asking them what you could do to strengthen your app, and they tell you not to use caps-lock? Just type using the regular laws of english grammar as we know and love them. No text message style crap.

I don't know that they're so strict about it. I had some other questions about foreign transcripts and such and called and spoke to an AMCAS app person. I happened to ask her if I should type in the course name exactly as it appears on my transcript (i.e., "Comp Lit") or if I should make it less ambiguous (i.e., my class was "Comparative Literature," and not Computer Literacy or something else). She said either way is fine, but it might be better to use full words if it's really unclear what the course was. Regardless, she said that stuff like that would not hold up verification. So, I'd just put whatever makes the info readable. And ALL CAPS is definitely irritating.

I had the same question a while ago and called AMCAS just to ask this. lol The person on the phone just said three words "it doesn't matter". As long as you use the same course name as your transcript, caps/no caps doesn't make a difference.
