Hello all,
I am preparing my program list on ERAS for the 2013 match and wanted to know a little more information about the program at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. I checked FREIDA, the program website, and googled extensively, yet came up with very little useful information. I want to know what the opinions of the PM&R community are on Kingsbrook. The program recently went through an overhaul, as claimed by their website, but I am not sure what that means as far as the outlook for the residents there. Can you please provide input? I have seen posts about Kingsbrook in other threads, but seems like no one is responding to the questions. Please help a (hopeful) future physiatrist.

Thank you

nobody has answered because none of us know

I interviewed there about 5 years ago in 2007...did not rank it for multiple reasons: located in the scary part of Brooklyn, dirty and filthy hallways, non-smiling stuff, worn out attendings, etc..The program seemes to have only FMGs, which shouldn't surprise you, american grads and IMGs usually do not even apply. But the pay is good, as far as I remember, PGY-2s were getting about 67K and PGY-4s around 74K (and we are talking 2007).
Dr. Krylov (PD) left some time last year and is on faculty at AECOM/Montefiore (her alma mater), and I heard the Chairperson (originally from Cabrini) is not there either..apparently, this hospital has been having serious financial troubles for some time now, nobody knows what's gonna happen in the next year or two...
There are so many programs in New York, why bother with this particular one.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me 😉
