I wouldn’t write anything that is dishonest or could be misconstrued as such.

You were “awarded the xyz scholarship for abc.”

Unfortunately I used up all my characters listing them out. A scholarship is an award tho, no? I also mentioned that it was merit based and not as a result of financial situation, so I definitely tried to make it very clear. I also didn't list how I was awarded the scholarship, I literally just listed everything out.

I don’t think “award” is a grossly incorrect description, but “scholarship” makes more sense.

What does everyone else think? I personally didn't think twice about it until today. Am I just being neurotic again?
Relax, if you already submitted it it can't be changed, but I don't really see it as a problem. Just be able to comment about your awards/scholarships if asked, don't be like "oh I forgot about that one." In my experience interviewing, I was never asked about my "awards" section, so I wouldn't worry.

Most awards and scholarships are not really pertinent and only matter if they carry some form of prestige or indicate something about you as an applicant:

Ie - I did list a distinguished honor grad award and a biotech scholarship because they signifies leadership potential and research prowesd

I did not list a good conduct medal or a university veterans resource scholarship because those I got literally just for existing.

A generic merit scholarship really doesn’t indicate anything. If the criteria are something like “best of 1000 applicants, demonstrates XYZ leadership nonsense and possesses great academic potential” then yah, list it. But generic merit is meh.

So I understand that it is important to really know your application, especially your PS and EC activities section. However, for one of my EC activities, I just listed a bunch of merit scholarship awards that I have won. The kind that you write an essay and apply for through your school.

Do I need to be able to give any detail on these awards (besides what type of award they were)?
If it's in your app, it's fair game.

The last thing you want to happen is to appear that you have embellished your app

Just curious as to what the problem is here...
What is the difference between an "Award" and a "Scholarship"? Both are a type of recognition unless its just like some sort of "Thank you for your participation" type of notices.

Inquiring minds want to know

Presumably OP assumed “awards” sound better than “scholarship”

I mean it wasnt like trying to skirt by saying that something like
"College Scholarship/Award X" was "Rhodes Scholarship" but idk that's just imo
