Did a few basic searches and didn't find anything too recent. At least in my area I rarely see job openings. Anyone that has experience with them, what are some pros and cons? Other than the fact that they are are a grocery chain and not one of the big three (two now?), are they worth it to jump ship? How are the benefits/401k? What should someone expect to see during an interview?

They hire from the inside, a majority of the time... meaning you should work as an intern during pharmacy school if you want a shot at being a pharmacist for them. They are a good chain to work for.

From what I've heard from my PIC best friend, the pharmacy side is great but benefits suck and there has been more of a push for clinical services. New hires start out with two weeks of vacation and 3 PTO days. Vacation scheduling is done the December before the calendar year and all vacation requests for the year are completed. Vacations must be used 7 days at a time and vacation runs from Sunday to Saturday. You have to cover your partners weekend when they're on vacation.

I'm hearing this secondhand so you Kroger people can correct me if I'm wrong.

Kroger also had several 24/7 pharmacies. low turnover rate as the 2 night pharmacists are the same for a long time.

I work for them I don't think the benefits are that bad, low premium HSA insurance ($42 a month single) where they give you $400 a year for meeting health screening metrics and then match up to $500 a year contribution for single or $1000 for families. 401k match is 4% if you contribute at least 5% and then an additional $1000 a year if you have I think 1 year of service and then $2000 a year for 5 or more years. 401k investment options are pretty terrible tho, very limited. They do hound you for clinical work, if you dont meet there expectations you get talked to a lot (at least in my division). They do have central fill and central pharmacist pre-verification (in my division) which helps with the workload, and tech hours are plentiful, if you can find people to work them for the low pay (we are struggling with this in my area, as most other entry level positions pay substantially more with less BS to deal with) Vacation has to be scheduled in November the year before, which kinda of sucks, but I do get 4 personal days that don't have to be scheduled that far in advance, but the good dates fill up fast.

If you can get any grocer, ID go for it. It's still retail but the general work environment is night and day. Overall I hear pretty good things. The only real complaint my friend that works there has is that he only gets paid once a month. Depending on site, I've also heard of strange shifts....like alternating 12 and 6 hr shifts. I prefer longer hours so I don't have to work every weekday.[/QUOTE]

Indeed they do hire from inside. However I know many interns who worked for them for years and didn't get offers. I can only speak for my area could be different elsewhere.
