You have two separate questions.

1. The info pack is enough....take the NMAT.

2. Yes, we understand, US schools are your number one plan, and PI schools are your back-up plan. So take the NMAT as part of your back-up plan. What's the conflict....it's already paid for, right? Can you get the money refunded? I don't think so.

But.....maybe your plane tickets to LA are refundable. You should postpone your NMAT until after you get accepted/rejected by US schools.

Hello all,

I was set to take it this coming week, but now I'm not sure if I should.

I've studied for the MCAT somewhat, and I'm not sure if the practice packet that Mr. Vergara gave to me is enough.

Can anyone confirm this? Is the packet enough? I'm sure the actual NMAT is different from the packet, so if anyone who has taken it before can confirm the similarities in format, that would be great.

Also, I'm not 100% sure that I'd want to do schooling in PI just yet. I could do it now, or wait a year and a half and make myself competitive for a US DO/MD school. I'm just concerned with the difficulties I'll have come USMLE time if I'm in the PI.

Whats up man? So will you be taking the exam this Saturday? But if you're not I do not think that you're still eligible for a refund. According to the NMAT bulletin no refund shall be given to you once you cancel after the registration dates which is I believe from July to October. I am not sure on the specific timeline of the registration period. It's best to call Mr. Vergara and inform him about your situation.

As what I've read on here the NMAT is easier compared to the MCAT and since you were able to study for the MCAT, I believe you'll do just fine. So better think about it. You dont want to waste your $$$$. 🙂

Yes, P.I. schools is gonna be your last resort just in case everything will not go well with your US MD / DO applications but yah know, the NMAT is good for 3 years. hehe. So, no harm in taking it now.

But, the decision is still up to you. If you do not feel comfortable at all then do not take the exam.

It's like 330am and I'm sad to say that I won't be taking it this time. Also, I didn't mean that PI was my last resort because of it not being a us school, I just meant that it'd be hard to take the USMLE if I was there since students usually take the step 1 after med school is over, and not after the 2nd year (like normal).

I'll probably do another year, then take both the Nmat and mcat / appy.

Good luck to everyone, and I didn't pay the $300+ registration fee yet, just the 30 for the info.. Which I'll hold on to for next time!

some students actually took the first sem off during their junior year, so they could study for step 1..but yeah..good luck,man.

if their first semester is postponed, then isn't the whole year postponed? If it won't hurt my progress, I'd be open to that.. travel expenses wouldn't be so much an issue since I'd be saving money attending school there in the first place..

Anyway, I'm thinking of applying to Fatima and I have the application form and the instructions given to me by a guy on the day of the test here in L.A but I'm having second thoughts of applying though.

I already applied and got accepted to CDU and a pending interview on CIM.

by here, you mean us soil? then yeah. u just gotta pass the usmle step 1 to do rotations over there. it's a requirement now.
