Trying to do a rough calculation of my premed GPA but I'm not sure how labs are weighted...I took a few premed classes at my undergrad institution where you got one grade for the lab+course, and then most of my classes at a post bac program where the labs were separate classes for which I got separate grades. Any idea how to calculate these different types of grades into one GPA?

It's based on units.

So if your combined lecture and lab was 5 semester units, then the one grade counts as 5 units.

If you took a 3 unit lecture, it's worth 3 units of whatever grade you got.

If you took a 3 unit lab, it's worth 3 units of whatever grade you got.

Is that what you were asking?

Isn't the grades weighted by credit hours? So if You got an A in a 5 hour lecture course -- 4.0 x 5, B in a 1 hr. lab course -- 3.0 x 1 So your GPA would be 23.0 points divided by 6?
