Do the acrilycs have to go? How about bright colors? Should i just go with french tips?

clean and trimmed. you really don't have to be more elaborate than that.

Acrylics are a no-no in a hospital. So I would get rid of them before interviewing just to show you know the world you are stepping into. If you've had a bad nail tech up until this point, your nails are going to look like crap when they are removed. Even if you've had a good nail tech who removes them properly (soaking off...NOT popping them off with a tool) they will be weaker and look a little beat up. I would recommend cutting them very short and putting clear polish on the top to reinforce them.

If you are super super self conscious, try gel polish like Shellac or Axxium (not a polish you put on yourself....an experienced tech needs to do it) because it will reinforce your weak nails and can be a good transition from acrylics to natural nails. They come in very sedate light-pinky colors (Axxium Bubble Bath is fantastic) that look natural but give your nails a nice sheen and make them look healthy.

Since it seems like 99% of techs do crap work, you maybe in for a looooong process of treating your nails nicely until the post-acrylic damage grows out.

The basic rule of interview wear....don't draw negative attention to yourself. Someone once said something to me that stuck with me. "Secretaries have fake nails....lawyers don't".

This is of course a regional thing....but you get the idea🙂 Dress for the job you want.

I've never looked close enough at an applicant's hands to tell if they have acrylic nails or just long ones. Obviously you'll have to get rid of the acrylics at some point. Nail polish too, honestly, but for interviews just make sure the color of your nails is something demure. Stick to light browns and pinks. French tips make me think you're looking for the wedding.

On my first interview I was pretty paranoid so I got a manicure the day before. I got a light pink/nude and it looked really nice. Then during my interview I noticed none of the other girls had their nails done so I stopped. From then on I just made sure they were nicely trimmed.

I agree with above. Short, neatly trimmed nails. You could have some pale or neutral conservative color of polish but this is optional. I would avoid long nails or anything bright, unusual, etc. You aren't going to be able to palpate properly when you start seeing patients with long nails and, indeed, hospitals have policies on nail length. I know you aren't a med student yet, but think it does show some insight to appear as physician-like as possible.
