I'm finishing up a post bacc I put together this spring and taking the MCATs in May. That's going to give me a year before hopefully starting DO school. I was thinking about taking a wilderness EMT course in June, and then trying to do the EMT-B thing to get some experience over the year. The country doc idea sounds appealing to me so the wilderness training might actually be useful down the road. However, I'm sure that emt companies just love pre-med people who only want to work for a year. Any suggestions, what have other people done for their lag years?

I fixed my house, painted it, gave it new trim, recarpeted, put down wood floors, refinished the ceiligs, baked, played with my kids, took our first vacation EVER, packed, and sold my home in preparation for moving. I also did financial aid stuff and prep stuff for school.

Don't tell them you plan on going to Medical school:idea: You can quit when you need to leave...thats what makes America so great. I was also thinking of doing some EMT work during my 8 month lag but now I am looking at Medical Technologist instead. They pay is much better and no additional training is needed besides a BS. Basically I want to buy a new car during this time. Otherwise I would go sleep under a bridge in Amsterdam for 8 months😎
