just got this email below from the ASA today. I've slowely come to realize that no matter how well and safely we provide anesthetic care, we still have to actively promote the field. The excellent job anesthesiologists have done ahead of us in making the field today with its current track record will be deminished if we let these cuts happen.
Will be making a call today. anyone else on board?
Key Congressional Lawmakers and Staff Considering Medicare Package Right Now
Join the fight against Medicare payment cuts and call Congress today!
Again this year, ASA has fought hard against cuts to Medicare payments for physicians. And again this year, Congress has waited until the last minute to act on this serious problem. Without their intervention THIS WEEK, a 5% cut will take effect on January 1.
But its not too late: please join the effort to stave off payment cuts!!
Pick up the phone. Call your Representative and Senators TODAY. Phone calls are more effective than emails at this point, so contact your Members of Congress through the Capitol Switchboard, (202) 225-3121. Your involvement is crucial to ASAs efforts to avert a payment cut this year.
The message is simple. Ask Congress to fix the flawed SGR and provide positive payment updatesreflective of medical practice coststo physicians for 2007 and beyond. Otherwise, many physicians may not continue treating Medicare patients.
A proposal is in the works. A Medicare package is being discussed among key Members of Congress right now. They must hear from you as they consider different options and make important decisions.
More important now than ever. Anesthesiologists already face significant payment cuts due to new CMS proposals. An additional 5% SGR-related cut is simply not acceptable.
Dont delay. Congress leaves town for good at the end of this week. If you dont act and they dont act, the 5% payment cut will begin on the first day of the new year. Please call your Representative and Senators as soon as possible.
Thank you for your help in the final push of 2006 for a positive Medicare payment update!
