I was wondering if anyone who was complete in mid November and after has received interviews from private schools recently. I'm looking for people with average stats and who do not have inside connections or have been contact with the people who decide the interviews. I have had two interviews at my state schools, but only have had a few with the private schools I applied to.

hey toomuch,
I was complete mid november and have one interview at albany mc in march. I also have one at a state school the beginning of feb. I hope for both of us there are more to come. Waiting sucks..........................

Keep your heads up guys. As Lenny Kravitz says, "It ain't over till it's over."

Hey guys,

AMCAS complete officially 11/10, finished half of my secondaries before that date, half afterward - just sent in my final secondary last week (TG!). Have three interviews so far (hoping and wishing for more - and yes, waiting does suck), one at my state school, another at a state school in an adjacent state, and one private school in the South.

A99, thanks for your words of support. 🙂

What do you mean by "average stats?" Average for SDN? or average at-large? I'm above average for at-large but below average for the SDN pool I guess.

I was complete at most schools in mid-november (and some as late as early december) and I've gotten a few invites from private schools since then.

i was completed early nov..had two interviews this month already...and hopefully more..press on my fellow premeds...there is stil hope..

I'm wishing everyone the best. I meant average as someone who has not saved a third world country, got the Nobel Prize, had a 45T and 4.0 gpa, if that clears up anything

Well, I was complete at my schools from mid-Oct. to mid-Nov. I DO NOT have amazing stats as far as numbers go (really....I'm not being modest). So far I've been on 10 interviews ( most of which were private). I was shocked at the good fortune I've been having. My suggestion to any of those folks worried out there... stay positive and prayerful and it will be just fine. Believe it or not, there is more to you than just numbers.

How is it that you've had 10 interviews already?!? I've been complete since October/November at about 7 schools and have only received an interview from Drexel, which isn't until May. I have a great GPA, decent MCAT, and about average EC's (nothing too spectacular). Maybe I applied to all the wrong schools.

I cannot even begin to speculate about how this process works. For a few of my interviews they "assigned" me late dates and I just called and said "how about earlier..." and they said "OK." A lot of people get acceptances and just cancel their interviews other places and open up that slot for someone else. I called other schools and said "hey I haven't heard from you yet...what's up" and then within the week I got an interview offer.

So, I think that when in doubt about anything!! CALL!! It won't hurt and it may help you more than you know. I'm sure that I was only one of many applicants that made many friendly phone calls phone calls.

Also, I applied to A LOT of schools.
