I'm taking the MCAT for the first time on August 14 and won't be applying to medical schools until I get the scores back. I'm a pretty strong candidate aside from the late app (good gpa, research, etc.). I would really appreciate it if you all could tell me what you know about people applying in my position this late. Things like chances of getting in, whether or not to wait another year...anything would help. Thanks a bunch.

why? there's no reason to wait until your scores come back to start your application. Even if you want to wait to see what you got before you decide whether or not to apply, you can still fill out the AMCAS, get your LORs in order, send in your transcripts etc. As long as you submitt AMCAS right when you find out your scores, you're in the same boat as everyone who takes the August MCAT...their app isn't complete until they get their MCAT scores. Fill out AMCAS, save it, wait for your scores, and if they're to your liking, hit submit.

If you're a strong applicant, don't stress out about it *too* much. Make sure everything is ready to go, so that when you get your scores you can press submit. Line up LORs and send in your transcript to AMCAS. Get your secondaries in ASAP once you get them and you should be fine. 🙂

Thanks for the repies. I'm mainly worried because most schools have rolling admissions.

Get your application in as soon as you can, but don't apply to the same schools I am! 😀

I took the august MCAT, and I applyed in July. Send everything in even without the MCATs, and you'll be fine. If you wait to submit until September you might have more trouble with this process.
