so is doing an away rotation from like nov. 15 to dec. 15th too late in the game to be doing away rotations? and more importantly from those that have recently gone thru the interview process, is this month a busy time for interviewing? in other words, will i be missing out on interview opportunities if i schedule this rotation at this time?

thanks mucho for any input.

It is not too late, but you are correct in observing that it will be during peak interview time(the month before would be better). Dean's letters come out ~Nov 1st and interviews begin usually around that time. If your away rotation is at an institution you wish to try and get a foot in the door at(ie audition rotation), I would be very careful about missing more than ~2 days to interview at other places. They may get the impression you are less interested in impressing them and your rotation could have the opposite effect that you wanted it to.

Away rotations can help you or hurt you. If you go and work hard and show that you are a team player that is reliable, smart and well read, it will help. If, however, you do an away and show up late, slack off, miss a lot of days(interviews??) or in general are annoying, you will definitely hurt your chances of getting a spot there.
It sounds like common sense , but a lot of people don't get it.
