I think you are making a big mistake, for several reasons. If indeed you know others who have failed and were contacted immediately, it indicates to me your school has a process for dealing with this -- it is entirely possible the person who keeps track of this is not in the office, plus it has only been two days. Certainly it depends on your school and who you are dealing with, but it could involve disciplinary action. Your words suggest that you know the school should be in touch, but you have made no effort to reach out to them. Given the "urgency" of the situation, it appears as though you are specifically avoiding their possible input (why would you not immediately try and contact them?) Are you aware of what they normally require (if anything) of students who fail the PE?
Additionally, a fact that it seems people are overlooking, is you FAILED -- I realize there is a certain amount of subjectivity in grading the PE, but when you say you have no idea why you failed, but want to retake it next week -- this is not good thinking. You are panicking and reacting in defense mode, and you should really seek some advice. A failure indicates a deficit of some kind, and the fact that you do not know what this is, is a big problem. While I do not know exactly how your strategy of "asking for forgiveness" will work with your particular school, I am willing to bet they will be especially unforgiving if you schedule and retake it without their knowledge and then fail again.
At the very least, I suggest you read your student handbook to see if there is any language dealing with this situation. If it is blatantly unclear, you may have a defense. If it outlines a process, and you are not following it, I would expect to hear from your disciplinary committee. At the schools I have been at these committees deal with all board exam failures as well.
That is my 2 cents!
