Late Committee Letter

Hello,

I currently have my application done; GPA verified and all necessary supplementals done too. I am currently just waiting for my school to write my committee letter. They said it will be another 3-5 weeks before it is finished. Will I be at a disadvantage? Also, do schools get the application already but they won't review it unless there is a committee letter? Anyone in a sort of the same position as me, that'll be completed by late August/Early September?

3-5 weeks? Yes you will be at a disadvantage because most schools will have already sent out a ton on interviews.

I know a few schools will still review without the letter. Nova for example gave me an interview before my committee letter was submitted. However, a lot of other schools waited until my letter was in to mark as complete and start to review. Marquette definitely waits until the committee letter is in to start reviewing (I applied there and my app was "incomplete" until the letter was in). Definitely call your school and politely ask if there was any way it would be done quicker. 3-5 weeks is a long time from now so I think you might be better off foregoing the committee letter and asking your teachers to just submit individually. Call your schools and ask what their policy is on committee letters.

I wish. The school requires professors to send their rec letters directly to the committee person to compile it all. My school has been known for not completing rec letters on time unfortunately. 🙁

Yeah my school does the same thing. Professors sent the letters straight to the committee person. I don't want to ask my professors to write me a letter again. I hope it doesn't hurt us. Cross your fingers
